Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes an amendment to the existing design contract for the South Gammon Road project. The contract amendment will add an estimated $28,700 to the contract which will be funded by GO Borrowing as authorized in the Adopted Capital Budget for Engineering Major Streets. The adopted 2018 budget authorizes $250,000 of GO Borrowing for continuing the design of the project in 2018 (MUNIS 11130).

PREAMBLE
The City of Madison in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has proposed a project to reconstruct S. Gammon Road from Seybold Road to Mineral Point Road. The City of Madison is the lead agency for the project and has entered into a design engineering contract with Ayres Associates, Inc. (Original: RES-16-00379)
The City Engineer recommends that additional design services be undertaken by Ayres Associates, Inc. to address additional design issues that have been identified during the preliminary design process. Initial traffic modeling has indicated that construction of a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) at the intersection of S. Gammon Road and the West Beltline Hwy could greatly reduce future traffic congestion at the interchange. In order to investigate more fully the feasibility of constructing a Diverging Diamond Interchange at S. Gammon Road and the Beltline, additional engineering services are required. The additional services include:
1) Traffic analysis - Review the City of Madison’s Traffic modeling and provide comments for suggested revisions if necessary.
