The proposed ordinance amendment increases the permit fee for promotional banners from $75 to $200. Approximately 80 promotional banner permit fees are issued each year and the revenue goes toward the General Fund.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance amendment increases the fee for a promotional banner from $75 to $200. Permits for promotional banners, which are used to announce various community and charity events and displayed on pedestrian overpasses, are administered by street vending staff in the Office of Business Resources.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Subdivision (a) of Subsection (2) of Section 31.075 entitled “Flags and Decorative and Promotional Banners(s)” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(a) A permit fee of seventy-five two hundred dollars ($75200) for each promotional banner.”
