This proposed resolution authorizes the continuation of a double fill for the Affirmative Action Coordinator position in the Department of Civil Rights. The double fill will continue through June 23rd, 2017; the estimated cost of the double fill is $21,430. The increased cost will be absorbed with DCR’s 2017 budget.

Approving an extension of a provisional appointment and double fill for position #68 Affirmative Action Manager Jaya Sharma until June 23, 2017.
Body
WHEREAS, Jaya Sharma has been filling the position of Affirmative Action Manager on a provisional basis, and
WHEREAS, a permanent Affirmative Action Manager was hired and Ms Sharma continued to fill the position of Affirmative Action Manager to provide training and to ensure a smooth transition; and
WHEREAS, the Engineering Division has a number of projects that require the services of the Affirmative Action Manager and the City Engineer has requested that the Civil Rights Division continue to employ Ms Sharma for 90 additional days in order to expedite completion of the projects; and
WHEREAS, City Personnel Rules allow for provisional appointments for up to six (6) months and the double fill of positions for up to 30 days, unless further approval is granted by the Madison Common Council;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Ms Sharma’s provisional appointment and double fill of position #68 be extended until June 23, 2017, with no change to the terms of her current provisional appointment.
