Title: Director's Report - Jim Hess, Director There were no questions regarding the Board report. Further comments from Mr. Hess included: · A memorial service was held at Monona Terrace for those who passed away in the Med Flight helicopter crash recently. The families wanted the event at MT because they could include a Med Flight helicopter flyover in tribute to those who died. Monona Terrace had also booked a 30-year anniversary celebration for Hospice Care, and staff felt the events could co-exist. However, Hospice chose to move the event to the Mariott Hotel in Middleton out of respect to those who died and the mourners attending the service. Monona Terrace and Monona Catering worked cooperatively to provide every possible assistance to Hospice, including transporting the food that had already been purchased to the Hospice facility to be distributed to their patients. There were no questions regarding the Board report. Further comments from Mr. Hess included:

· A memorial service was held at Monona Terrace for those who passed away in the Med Flight helicopter crash recently. The families wanted the event at MT because they could include a Med Flight helicopter flyover in tribute to those who died. Monona Terrace had also booked a 30-year anniversary celebration for Hospice Care, and staff felt the events could co-exist. Monona Terrace staff will follow up with Hospice after the event is over.
· Monona Terrace staff is still waiting for the delivery of the pre-cast panels so the Lake Vista Cafe can be completed. The soft opening will now be held some time in June, with the Grand Opening to be held either July 10 or July 17. The contractor continues to accumulate penalties because the project is so delayed.
· The quarterly meeting with the Mayor including discussions regarding the hotel feasibility study and the TOT study. The Mayor indicated his support for Monona Terrace, and he indicated his support so that the facility will continue to be maintained in “like new” condition.
· A meeting will be held on June 2 regarding a possible expo district. Discussions will include forecasted expenditures and the needs of the facilities that could be involved.
