Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes an amendment to an existing contract (#8939) for professional architectural and engineering design services for the CCB remodel. The original bid for design consulting work was for $751,258 and was split into 4 phases of work (Phase 1 Master Plan, Phase 2 Design/Construction of CCB First Floor, Phase 3 Design/Construction of CCB Fourth Floor, and Phase 4 Design/Construction of CCB Fifth Floor). Only $310,710 was previously encumbered for the completion of Phases 1 and 2. Phases 3 and 4 were to be contingent upon future budget approvals.
Design Amendment #1, was approved by the Common Council on September 6, 2022 (RES-22-00587, File #72978) to encumber an additional $92,695 for restructuring of the order of construction, associated redesign, and other owner requested additional work.
Design Amendment #2, was approved by the Common Council on March 21, 2023 (RES-23-00240, File #76511) to encumber an additional $138,700 for the reorganization of bid documents for the original Phase 2 scope into a phase 2 and 2A due to budget; removal of the AV package for separate bidding; and some late owner requested changes.
This resolution seeks approval of Design Amendment #3 which includes:
1. Modifications to the Master Plan previously approved for the Department of Civil Rights (DCR) new office space on the First Floor. Revisions are needed to accommodate a recent change in the DCR Organizational Chart.
2. Modifications to the Comfort Room on the City-County Fifth Floor.
a. This Comfort Room was part of the Public Health remodel completed in 2019. Due to changes in the PH lobby staffing the Comfort Room has not been accessible as defined by APM 2-50.
b. The redesign will eliminate the Comfort Room door off the PH Lobby and install a door to the Comfort Room off of the 5th floor main corridor for access by City and County staff.
3. A total of $28,665 needs to be encumbered for the above mentioned work.
