The proposed resolution approves plans and specifications and authorizes the Board of Public Works to advertise and receive bids for Bridge Repairs - 2026. The total estimated cost of the project is $625,000 with estimated funding in Munis projects #15791 ($400,000) and #16200 ($225,000). The Engineering Division currently has $359,000 in available funding in Munis #15791. Depending on the level of the bids, the Engineering Division may seek an intra-departmental transfer, subject to City rules and policies, to cover a funding gap between the estimated cost and available budget. At this time, no additional appropriation is required.

City Engineering is proposing structural repairs and bridge roadway narrowing on the W. Badger Road bridge over the WSOR railroad located between S. Park Street and N. Rusk Avenue. The repairs will consist of bridge roadway narrowing, widening the sidewalk on the north and south sides of the bridge as well as connecting the sidewalk and shared-use path approaching the bridge from the south and north sides to the bridge. Other improvements include: concrete deck repairs, expansion joint replacement, approach slab replacement, and expansion plate replacement. Additionally, roadway tapers/curb realignment will be included on both sides of the bridge to match the reduced typical section of the structure. Storm sewer adjustments will be made as necessary to match the new curb and gutter location.

City Engineering is also proposing epoxy polymer concrete bridge deck overlays for the aforementioned Badger Road bridge as well as two bridges on Campus Drive crossing Walnut Street and Highland Avenue respectively.
