Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the noncompetitive purchase of services and goods from R G Huston Company, Inc. for the repair of the Thai Bridge railing damaged by a tree and replacement of board planks that are no longer in safe conditions for the Parks Division. The purchase price is not to exceed $73,700 and will be funded from the Park Facility Improvements program (Munis #17443) in the Park Division's 2023 Adopted Capital Budget. No additional appropriation is required.

The proposed resolution authorizes a non-competitive purchase from R G Huston Company, Inc. for $73,700 for the railing repair, replacement of wood deck boards, and mobilization to complete the Thai Bridge repairs from a tree falling and materials end of life. Funding is available within the City of Madison Parks Division’s 2023 Adopted Capital Budget for this purchase
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Parks Division requires specialized knowledge, skills, and equipment to repair the railing and wood deck boards of the Thai Bridge, which provides access to the Royal Thai Pavilion at Olbrich Botanical Gardens; and

WHEREAS, R G Huston Company, Inc. installed the Thai Bridge in 2002, using proprietary craftsmanship techniques, including the carriage for board installation, and has completed maintenance on the bridge ever since; and

WHEREAS, after working to find other suppliers and informal quotes, contractors are not able to locally source the wood deck boards and complete the work during the time the Royal Thai Pavilion is closed for renovation in the fall 2023 - spring 2024; and

WHEREAS, funds for the purchase of these goods and services from R G Huston Company, Inc. have been appropriated in the 2023 City of Madison Parks Division’s Capital Budget within the Pa...
