Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the City of Madison, for the Madison Public Library, to apply for and accept if awarded, grant funding up to $971,782 from the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration Division of Energy, Housing and Community Resources Flexible Facilities Program. The grant will fund some of the construction costs for remodeling the Central Library identified during a design phase in 2025. The City must demonstrate that there is financial capacity and funds are readily available to complete the project as proposed and that any funding needed from other financial sources is secured and committed to the project so it is ready to proceed immediately upon award.
The Library’s Central Library Improvements capital project has authorized funding of $275,000 in GO Borrowing and the Mayor’s 2025 Executive Capital Budget authorizes an additional $250,000 in GO Borrowing for the project. If the grant is awarded, the project will be amended to reflect the grant revenue and a total project cost of up to $1,496,782.
