SUBSTITUTE - Congratulating the Madison Memorial High School Boys Basketball Team on winning the 2011 State WIAA Division 1 Title.
Body
WHEREAS, the Madison Memorial High School Spartans Boys Basketball Team  finished the 2010-11 season with a 28-6 22-6 record, and earned their eighth straight Big Eight Conference title and eighth straight berth to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association basketball tournament and seventh appearance in the WIAA State Championship game; and,
 
WHEREAS, Coach Steve Collins was honored by being named 2011 Associated Press Wisconsin Coach of the Year; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Spartans defeated Milwaukee Hamilton, earning a spot in the Division 1 Championship Game against De Pere, who they defeated by a score of 80-78 in triple overtime, with senior leader Tre Burnette scoring 17 points with 7 rebounds, junior Junior Lomomba delivering 16 points and 6 rebounds and Brendan Ortiz scoring the game-winner on a floater with 2 seconds left, finishing with 15 points and five assists; and,
 
WHEREAS, Coach Steve Collins and his assistant coaches emphasized teamwork and team spirit with the Spartans in blending their talents to capture the championship; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Madison community is proud of the excellence, teamwork, and education and spirit shown by the young men of the Spartan basketball team; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Madison Common Council recognizes the dedicated support of the parents, student body and all Spartan fans during the championship season,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council hereby congratulate Coach Collins, his assistant coaches, and the entire Madison Memorial High School Boys Basketball Team on their successful season and Division 1 State Championship.
