Accepting a $7,750 check from the Downtown Madison Kiwanis Club for the Bright and Early early childhood education campaign.
Body
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison has made a commitment to early childhood education in the City of Madison; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison has educated members of the club and supported presentations to other service clubs about the importance of early education to children and to the community; and
WHEREAS, the International Kiwanis mission is "Serving the Children of the World," with "young children as Priority One,"; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison is committed to help bring about a change in priorities and understanding that will ultimately assure each child an opportunity to develop his or her talents to the fullest; and
WHEREAS, in fulfillment of that commitment, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison has decided to support the continuation of the early childhood education campaign of the child care program in the City of Madison;
Now, therefore be it resolved that the Common Council authorizes the Office of Community Services to accept the funds from the Kiwanis Club, placing them in a segregated account for use in the early childhood education campaign; and
be IT further resolved that the City thanks the members of the club for their concern for the future of the children of the City of Madison, and congratulates them on their dedication and perseverance in supporting this goal; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the $7,750 from the Kiwanis Club will be appropriated as follows:
