Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute Addendum No. 1 to the Contract for Professional Services with Strand Associates Inc. to review/study the condition of the Lake Wingra Dam. (6th, 15th, 17th, & 3rd ADs)

PREAMBLE
This addendum is for unrelated work and consists of a floodplain study for the East and West Branches of Starkweather Creek upstream of their confluence.
WHEREAS, The City of Madison has previously entered into a contract for Professional Services with Strand Associates Inc. to review/study the condition of the Lake Wingra Dam, in accord with orders from the WDNR; and
WHEREAS, Strand has completed previous work on the Starkweather Creek Floodplain for the City of Madison; and
WHEREAS, The WDNR has requested that any community within Dane County wanting to assist in the revision/modification to the current Floodplain mapping system for their community, complete their work by the end of October 2005, as the WDNR has a December 31, 2005 submittal requirement to FEMA; and
WHEREAS, The City Engineer believes it to be in the best interest of the residents of the City of Madison, to have the floodplain work on Starkweather Creek completed by an agent of the City; and
WHEREAS, Strand & Associates has performed previous work for the City on the affected reaches of Starkweather Creek; and
WHEREAS, Strand & Associates are qualified to do this work and have indicated that they can complete it in accord within the WDNR's time requirement:
