Title
Commending Richard Arnesen, Jr. for his service to the City of Madison and his participation on the Housing Committee.
Body
BACKGROUND

The Common Council established a Housing Committee to serve as a forum for discussion of broad citywide policies related to housing affordability and tenant-landlord relations. The Council created the original committee by approving appointment of talented individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds related to housing issues in 2005. Richard Arnesen, Jr. has served as one of the original appointees, and is now leaving the Committee to pursue both personal and professional interests.

ACTION

Whereas, the Common Council created a Housing Committee to review and recommend to the Council various policies related to housing in Madison;

Whereas, Rich Arnesen has ably served on the Housing Committee since its inception, and provided the Committee with his experience and thoughtful consideration of policy alternatives, representing the experience of developers in the Housing Committee discussions about City housing policies concerned about tax incremental financing, the inclusionary zoning program, and property management and development;

Whereas, the Housing Committee wishes to express its appreciation to Rich Arnesen on the occasion of his resignation from the Committee to work on additional housing projects that will contribute to the health of Madison's neighborhoods (and those of other cities);

Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Common Council commend Richard Arnesen, Jr. for his 4 1/2 years of service to the City and wish him well in his continuing endeavors to improve the quality of life in Madison.
