Title
Accepting $10,000 from the Downtown Madison Kiwanis Club and thanking them for their support for early childhood education.
Body
Whereas the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison has made a commitment to educate its members and the community about the value of early childhood education to children and the community, in keeping with the International Kiwanis objective "Serving the Children of the World, with young children as priority one;"

And Whereas the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison is committed to help bring about a change in priorities and attitudes in the City of Madison that will ultimately assure each young child  an opportunity to develop optimally,

And Whereas in fulfillment of that commitment the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison has developed a speakers bureau on early childhood education for service clubs throughout the City of Madison,

And Whereas also in fulfillment of that commitment, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison has raised $15,000 to contribute to the Bright and Early Campaign administered by the Office of Community Services to educate the public about the value of early childhood education,

Now therefore be it resolved that the Common Council authorizes the Office of Community Services to accept the funds from the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison, and

Be it further resolved that the City thanks the members of the club for their concern for the future of the children of the City of Madison, and congratulates the members for their activities in an area that is more often characterized by lip service than by action.
