Body
The City has adapted a plan to repair defective Sidewalk in all areas of the City over a 10 year period which started in 1996. The City is planning to repair sidewalk in Districts 2 and 6 in 2006. The goal to cover the City in 10 years is an ambitious one. Funding has been increased in order to stay on schedule. The Sidewalk Program has stayed on schedule over the first 7 years of the program.
Under this program offset, settled or badly cracked sidewalk sections are replaced with the City and the abutting property owner each paying one half of the cost. In addition ramps are installed at intersections which don't have ramps. The ramps are funded by the City.
The City Engineer plans to award two contracts for the work in 2006.
NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications for the Annual Construction and Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalk and Incidental Concrete Curb & Gutter Work Ordered by the Common Council be and are hereby approved;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Public Works be and is hereby authorized to advertise for and receive bids for the required public works contracts.
