Fiscal Note
Total contract amount is $92,055.60. Funding provided is Surface Transportation Rural (STP-Rural), using 80% Federal and 20% local cost sharing formula. Dane County is responsible for 100% of the local cost. Traffic Engineering revenues are estimated to be $43,008.10 which are included in the 2006 budget. The estimated materials cost is $49,047.50. Interim funding for the materials is available in Traffic Engineering's 2006 capital account CE57-58540-810417, to be repaid upon receipt of contract funds.

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the construction of traffic signals at the intersections of CTH M and CTH K and at CTH M and Woodland Drive in Dane County.
Body
WHEREAS, Dane County and the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDOT) desire that Madison install traffic signals at the intersections of CTH M and CTH K and at CTH M and Woodland Drive in Dane County; and
WHEREAS, Dane County and Madison have executed an Addendum of Agreement to amend an existing signal operation and maintenance agreement to include additional traffic signals at CTH M and CTH K and at CTH M and Woodland Drive; and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison will furnish and install various traffic signal and lighting materials under a contract with the WDOT.  The contract requires that the City indemnify WDOT.  City APM 1-1 requires Common Council approval whenever the City indemnifies another party, and the funding by WDOT for these installations carries low risk and benefits the general public.  
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract with WDOT for construction by City forces for supplying and installing various traffic signal and lighting materials and that the Common Council approves indemnification of WDOT under this contract.
