The proposed resolution authorizes the creation of a Real Estate Agent 2 position, to be underfilled as a Real Estate Agent 1 in the Economic Development Division. The cost of creating the position for the remainder of 2016 is approximately $36,687 including benefits. 2016 costs associated with the position will be absorbed in the Economic Development Division Operating Budget due to salary savings resulting from multiple vacancies and retirements. The projected annualized cost of the position is $68,395 including benefits.

Whereas, the Office of Real Estate Services (ORES) is projected to have 428 projects assigned to its staff in 2016,
Whereas, since 2000, this is higher than the average of 276 projects per year and represents the most projects ever assigned to ORES in a single year,
Whereas, this trend of an increase in projects for the ORES team is only expected to continue,
Whereas, this position is needed to maintain license/encroachment agreements, acquire and process various easement conveyances, and assist with the purchase of property for road construction projects, and work on other major and minor real estate projects,
Whereas, the position will be created as a Real Estate Agent 2, but filled as a Real Estate Agent 1 to allow for future promotional opportunities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that one FTE position, Real Estate Agent 2, for minor and major real estate projects, funded by salary savings, is created in the Economic Development Division.
