Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the Engineering Division to use a non-competitive contract agreement for vactor sewer cleaning equipment repair and annual maintenance through 2022. The amount expended for these services will not exceed $125,000 per year; the Sewer and Stormwater Utilities’ adopted 2018 operating budget includes sufficient budget authority within the purchased services budget for the contract cost.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has an aggressive sewer preventive maintenance program in place and as a result experiences a very low incidence of sewer back up;
WHEREAS, this work is accomplished using combination hydraulic-vacuum sewer cleaning machines also known as vactors;
WHEREAS, this same equipment is used to performed scheduled removal of sediment from storm catch basins and other specialized treatment devices to prevent this material from reaching our surface waters;
WHEREAS, it is essential to these operations that this equipment be properly maintained and repaired;
WHEREAS, this is unique and complex equipment requiring factory authorized and trained technicians to provide such maintenance and repair service;
WHEREAS, the Bruce Municipal Engineering, Inc. is the local authorized dealer and service provider for Vactor equipment and the only such provider located within the State of Wisconsin;
WHEREAS, Bruce Municipal Equipment, Inc., has factory trained service technicians to perform this work;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into a non-competitive contract with Bruce Municipal Engineering, Inc. through December 31, 2022 for repair and annual maintenance of Vactor sewer cleaning equipment, for an amount not to exceed $125,000 per yea...
