Title
Wingra Park Shoreline Project
Body
The City of Madison Parks and Engineering Divisions are working to stabilize, repair, and update the shoreline in Wingra Park. The southern boundary of Wingra Park, or the shoreline, has approximately 565 linear feet of shoreline. The proposed project will address approximately 400 feet of the shoreline. The project limits extend from the existing boat launch to the eastern property line.
Amenities to be included in the shoreline repair include approximately 350 linear feet of eroding shoreline and two concrete abutments and their associated pier structures. This project will also address an asphalt path adjacent to the shoreline that is in poor condition.
The proposed project will:
• Stabilize the eroding shoreline with encapsulated soil lifts and stone
• Install a 15-foot set of limestone steps
• Install an articulated concrete block canoe/kayak launch
• Replace the rotting wood pier
• Replace the existing asphalt path along the shoreline
The project is tentatively scheduled to begin when weather conditions permit shoreline work, or when ice is off the lake. The project will be completed by Memorial Day 2018.
