This resolution authorizes the acceptance of United States Fish and Wildlife Service grants with a maximum value of $3,000 of in-kind supplies and materials per occurrence. These grants will be recognized as expenses within the Parks Division’s Conservation Section Operating Budget (GN01-54303-612260) with corresponding revenue/contribution recognition (GN01-73119-612260) as a federal grant. No additional appropriation is required and there is no impact on the property tax levy.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service, Wisconsin Private Lands Office offers an in-kind grant program that provides seed and landscaping supplies to assist in the restoration of native landscape communities and wildlife habitat developments; and

WHEREAS, under this grant program the City will apply for and use the contributed materials, in combination with City services and expenditures, towards the following: oak savanna and prairie restoration at Prairie Ridge Conservation Park; oak woodland restoration at Owen Conservation Park; oak savanna and prairie restoration at Knollwood Conservation Park; oak savanna restoration at Cherokee Marsh South Unit Conservation Park; and, oak woodland and wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh Mendota Unit Conservation Parks; and

WHEREAS, the Parks Division seeks to improve natural and conservation focused landscaping within the Parks system by utilizing these in-kind grants of supplies and materials to restore historic natural landscapes that support a diverse community of native plants and animals; and
