Amending the work timeline for the Madison Police Department Policy and Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison created the Madison Police Department (MPD) Policy and Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee (Resolution File No. 37863, adopted by the Common Council on May 19, 2015) to review policies, procedures, culture and training of the Madison Police Department by hiring an expert in community policing, law, problem oriented policing, racial disparities, restorative justice and implicit bias; and,

WHEREAS, that resolution provided a timeline requiring that the ad hoc committee present its recommendations to the Common Council by July 2016; and,

WHEREAS, Resolution, Legislative File No. 41158 adopted by the Common Council on January 5, 2016 extended that timeline to December 6, 2016; and,

WHEREAS, Resolution, Legislative File No. 42875 adopted by the Common Council on June 7, 2016 extended the timeline to July, 2017; and,

WHEREAS, Resolution, Legislative File No. 44829 adopted by the Common Council on November 1, 2016 extended the timeline to January 30, 2018;

WHEREAS, Resolution, Legislative File No. 50793 adopted by the Common Council on November 1, 2016 extended the timeline to December 4, 2018;

WHEREAS, Resolution, Legislative File No. 53659 adopted by the Common Council on October 30, 2018 extended the timeline to February 26, 2019; and,

WHEREAS, the MPD Policy and Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee received the OIR Group Report on December 14, 2017 and is committed to reviewing the report and recommendations to ensure transparency and community participation throughout the process;

WHEREAS, in addition to the OIR Group recommendations the MPD Policy and Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee received numerous recommendations from community members that needed to be reviewed; and,
