PREAMBLE
The roadways within the City of Madison's infrastructure are a considerable investment. Proper maintenance of pavements helps extend the useful life of a pavement. Pavements left in disrepair deteriorate and require resurfacing and/or reconstruction sooner than pavements, which have preventative maintenance.
Chip Sealing extends the pavements useful life. Chip Sealing helps keep the underlying base dry providing better support for vehicle loading.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications for Chip Sealing are hereby approved, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Public Works be and is hereby authorized to advertise and receive bids for said project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute agreements with Dane County for the chip sealing of unimproved streets.
