The resolution creates a 1.0 limited term Safety Coordinator 1 (CG18, R8) position in the Fire Department. This position will be funded by a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant for the Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grant Program.
Legistar 85498 (RES-24-00621, enacted on November 1, 2024), amended the Fire Department’s budget to accept the 3-year FEMA grant of $500,384. The resolution noted that the grant would primarily be used to fund an LTE position. The current resolution is needed to create position authority in the Fire Department’s budget to hire for the position.
The estimated annual cost of the position, including salaries and fringe benefits, is $105,500. All of the position costs will be grant-funded. No additional appropriation is necessary. The Fire Department will monitor the status of the grant and availability of funds through the federal funding portal.
