Title
Authorization to enter into an agreement with and distribute funds to Focused Interruption for hospital-based violence intervention & community response (2025 BOH RES-050)
Body
Public Health Madison & Dane County (Public Health) propose the authorization to enter into an agreement with and distribute funds to Focused Interruption, to support hospital-based violence intervention and community response services.
Public Health released the 2026 Violence Prevention Grant Program RFP to identify programs that could strengthen the Violence Intervention Program. Focused Interruption submitted an application and was competitively scored among other applicants. While their proposal demonstrated strong alignment with Public Health’s broader violence prevention goals, the specific services that would most effectively support Public Health’s needs fell outside the funding priorities outlined in the RFP. To ensure Public Health can meet the critical needs of Hospital-Based Intervention which is an essential component of the Violence Intervention team’s work, this separate contract is being pursued.
Under this agreement, Focused Interruption would receive funding to implement a Hospital-Based Violence Intervention and Community Violence Response Program. The purpose of the contract is to deliver trauma-informed, data-driven intervention services to individuals at the highest risk of violence.
Focused Interruption would coordinate closely with Public Health and contribute to the broader violence prevention ecosystem through collaboration with partner agencies, departments, and healthcare providers.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, on behalf of Public Health Madison & Dane County, authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to enter into an agreement with Focused Interruption and to distribute funding of up to $36,000.00 for a contract term beginning on the date of execution and ending May 15, 2027.
