Fiscal Note
Revenues and expenses associated with this program are projected at a maximum of $124,440 in 2005 and $126,929 in 2006. The 2005 Public Health Adopted Operating Budget contains both expenses and revenues related to the program. There is no anticipated impact upon cost controls or the tax levy.
Title
Authorizing a contract between the City and Dane County for the Madison Department of Public Health to operate a Clean Sweep household hazardous waste program for Dane County.
Body
WHEREAS, Clean Sweep, a program offered in Madison since 1984, assists area residents in identification, safe handling, and disposal of household hazardous waste substances; and
WHEREAS, management of household hazardous waste continues to require attention in Madison and Dane County; and
WHEREAS, Dane County desires to provide a dedicated hazardous waste collection drop off center for Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQG's) as described in Wisconsin Administrative Code NR 610.07; and
WHEREAS, Dane County has committed funds from landfill tipping fees for the purpose of supporting Household Hazardous Waste Services in the County, and funds are available to reimburse the City for its costs in coordinating these services for the County, in the amount of $124,440 in 2005 and $126,929 in 2006.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of the City so that the Madison Department of Public Health may operate a Household Hazardous Waste Services program for Dane County in 2005 and 2006.
