PREAMBLE

The intersection of University Avenue, Overlook Pass and Thorstrand Drive has a history of vehicle crashes.  University Avenue is maintained by Dane County, Overlook Pass is in the City of Madison and Thorstrand Drive is in the City of Middleton.  In a cooperative effort to improve this intersection the three municipalities will share the costs equally to improve the intersection with Dane County Crew performing the construction.  On March 1, 2005 the Common Council passed RES-05-00218 which approved plans and specifications and estimated the City share at $41,000.  The work will now occur in 2006 and the construction estimate has been revised.  The City's share is now estimated at  $61,000.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Dane County for cost sharing for the University Avenue, Thorstrand Drive and Overlook Pass Median Widening and Intersection Improvements
