Title
Seeking Common Council approval of the 2007 Madison Arts Commission Grant awards and the 2007 Summer Concerts Performances as recommended by the Madison Arts Commission.
Body
WHEREAS, The Madison Arts Commission has the authority by ordinance to annually recommend arts grants and performances for approval by the Common Council; and,
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Commission received 42 applications totaling $115,900.00, in requests for arts projects funding by the annual April 1 application deadline; and,
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Commission met on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 to evaluate the applications received for the 2006-07 grant period and is recommending 29 projects for grant awards totaling $66,977.00; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Commission recommends that the following organizations fall under the Summer Concerts item in the budget: Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra: Concerts on the Square; Madison Folk Music Society: Folk at One; Capitol City Band: Summer Concerts; North/East Side Senior Coalition: Warner Park Summer Concerts.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Common Council approves the 2007 grant awards and Summer Concert Performances recommendations of the Madison Arts Commission and authorizes the Planning Division Director, The City Comptroller and the City Attorney to execute the agreements on behalf of the City of Madison to effectuate said grants.
