Authorizing the Purchasing Agent to enter into an agreement with Bauer & Raether Builders to provide construction to install building insulation located at the Madison Police Dept. Property storage facility on 120 N. First Street. (6th AD)
Body
WHEREAS the existing building, used for long term storage of evidence and other property in the custody of the Madison Police Department, is neither insulated or heated. Wisconsin State Statute 968.205 requires law enforcement agencies to preserve biological evidence in a manner that existing conditions preclude, and,
WHEREAS plans and specifications prepared by Strang Associates, Inc. dated August 16, 2004 provided details for insulating, sealing, repairing and providing HVAC to the existing structure; and the contracting firm of Bauer & Raether Builders, Inc. has proposed to furnish material, labor, and equipment to install building insulation consistent with the plan, and,
WHEREAS the 2005 Capital Budget includes funding for insulation of this building and a contractor must be hired to complete this portion of the project, and,
WHEREAS the total contract compensation for construction by Bauer & Raether Builders, Inc. is $24,910, and,
WHEREAS Bauer & Raether Builders, Inc. is the low bid that meets the needs of the project; and Section 3.61(5), MGO, authorizes the Purchasing Agent to sign contracts for purchase of services when the total cost of services is $25,000 or less, and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby authorizes the Purchasing Agent to enter into an agreement with Bauer & Raether Builders, Inc. to provide construction to install building insulation at the Madison Police Department Property storage facility on 120 N. First Street.
