The University of Wisconsin has made a Rezone and Demolition application to the City of Madison to initiate their proposed New South Campus Union project located at 1308 West Dayton Street. This project has quite an aggressive schedule and is currently in design development with a projected UW bid date of January 2009 and a construction start date of March 2009 and intended occupancy by March 2011. This project requires construction coordination efforts between the University of Wisconsin, City of Madison and the State of Wisconsin Commissioner of Railroads.
The University of Wisconsin has made a request to the City of Madison to vacate a portion of West Johnson Street between North Randall Avenue and Campus Drive to facilitate their proposed New South Campus Union facility.
This project requires the removal of the existing vehicular crossings of the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad (WSOR) at West Johnson Street and modification of the crossing on North Randall Avenue and North Orchard Street. The necessary public works infrastructure designs are currently being worked on and final plans will impact the vacation limits of that part of West Johnson Street as they will the subject railroad crossings. As designs finalize, the exact limits of vacated area will be better defined and available prior to recording of this adopted street vacation resolution with the Dane County Register of Deeds.
