Fiscal Note

Minimal impact associated with revenues derived from ticket fines.  Although the bail deposit for first time offenses will be lowered, there may be more tickets issued, resulting in an overall net minimal impact on fine revenues.

AMENDED - Amending Section 1.08(3)(a) of the Madison General Ordinances to create a lower bail deposit for first time violations of MGO 34.31, unlawful fireworks.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This ordinance creates two bail deposits for violation of MGO 34.31, Unlawful Fireworks.  1^st time offenses will be subject to a bail deposit of $150225 plus costs, subsequent violations will be subject to a bail deposit of $300 plus costs.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

Subdivision (a) of Subsection (3) entitled "Schedule of Deposits" of Section 1.08 entitled "Issuance of Citations for Violations of Certain Ordinances and Providing a Schedule of Cash Deposits" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended by adding therein the following:

EDITOR'S NOTE:  New or amended bail deposits must be approved by Municipal Judge prior to adoption.  These deposits have been so approved.
