AMENDED - Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Earth Tech, Inc. for the preparation of drawings and specifications, bidding, construction administration, and the startup for a three-million per day iron and manganese removal filter and associated buildings and equipment for Unit Well 29 (AD 3).
Body
WHEREAS, Iron and manganese water quality issues at Unit Well 29 require treatment and removal; and
WHEREAS, a filtration pilot study was successfully completed at Unit Well 29 recommending the installation of a pyrolusite filtration system following chlorine oxidation for iron and manganese removal; and
WHEREAS, at the April 17, 2007 Board of Water Commissioners meeting the Board authorized the construction of a filtration system following an evaluation of the pilot study report and a report on the feasibility of an alternative well; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility wishes to design and construct a three-million gallon per day iron and manganese removal filter at Well 29 to provide high quality water to area residents; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility has budgeted funds in the 2006 budget to design the filter and budgeted funds for construction in the 2007 capital budget; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility has advertised for consultant services, received and evaluated the proposals, and negotiated a Professional Services Agreement;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Earth Tech, Inc.  of _______________ for facility design, preparation of drawings and specifications, bidding services, construction administration, and facility startup for a Unit Well 29 iron and manganese removal filter.
