Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the appointment of Matthew Tucker as the Director of the Building Inspection Division for a 5-year term. The 5-year term shall take effect July 21, 2026. As stated in the draft Employment Agreement between the City of Madison and Matthew Tucker, the Director's salary will be based on an annualized rate of $167,000. The rate is within the range for the Building Inspection Division Director position in compensation group 21, range 18.
The new compensation rate will cost approximately $7,300 in 2026. The cost will be absorbed within the Building Inspection Division's 2026 adopted operating budget. The annual cost is approximately $16,000. Annual salary adjustments may be made during the term of the agreement at the Mayor’s discretion, subject to Common Council approval. No additional appropriation is required with approval of this appointment.

WHEREAS, the Mayor has appointed Matthew W. Tucker to the position of Building Inspection Division Director and has recommended to the Common Council that their appointment be confirmed; and,
WHEREAS, the parties have reached an accord on the terms and conditions of an Employment Agreement between the City and Matthew W. Tucker;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Matthew W. Tucker’s appointment to the position of Building Inspection Division Director is hereby confirmed, and the Mayor and the City Clerk’s Office are authorized to execute an Employment Agreement between the City and Matthew W. Tucker.
