Accepting the Final Report and Recommendations of the Sister City Ad Hoc Planning Committee dated November 15, 2010.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council approved a resolution creating a sister city ad hoc planning committee to make recommendations on the charge, scope and purpose of the City of Madison  Sister City Program, and;
 
WHEREAS, the following individuals served on the ad hoc planning committee:
 
1.      John Jacoby - Freiburg, Germany
2.      Frank Alfano - Mantova, Italy
3.      Daina Zemliauskas-Juozevicius- Vilnius, Lithuania
4.      Jo Oyama-Miller - Obihiro, Japan
5.      David Mollenhoff - Downtown Rotary
6.      Ald. Bridget Maniaci - District 2
7.      Ald. Tim Bruer - District 14
 
WHEREAS, the Sister Cities Ad Hoc Planning Committee met and discussed the role of the Sister City Collaboration Committee (SCCC), potential new goals and objectives for the SCCC, governance structure, the criteria for participation in the Sister Cities Program, funding needs and marketing objectives, and;
 
WHEREAS, the draft report was presented to the Common Council Organizational Committee (CCOC) on December 14, 2010 for feedback and input, and;
 
WHEREAS, the CCOC members reviewed the draft report and its recommendations and requested that the final report and the recommendation for creation of the new committee be forwarded to the Common Council for approval,
 
NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Madison Common Council accepts the Final Report and Recommendations of the Sister City Ad Hoc Planning Committee dated November 15, 2010 and requests that the City Attorney formalize the creation of the new committee by ordinance.
