Authorizing acceptance and appropriation of a $1,000 grant to fund programs and materials about East Asia.
Body
WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for East Asian Studies has awarded Madison Public Library a grant of $1,000 as part of the new East Asian in Wisconsin Library Program; and,
WHEREAS, the grant funds are designated to augment collections with East Asia-related materials, and to design new book clubs and other programming with an East Asian theme; and,
WHERAS, this program is part of the center's focus on promoting understanding of East Asian histories and cultures, and alings with the Wisconsin Idea mission of service to Wisconsin citizens beyond the boundaries of the classroom; and,
WHEREAS, University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for East Asian Studies is dedicated to all apects of research, education and outrach related to Chinga, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong; and,
WHEREAS, Madison Public Library plays an integral role of service to Wisconsin citizens beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 2020 Madison Public Library Operating Budget is amended to appropriate $1,000; and,
BE FINALLY RESOLVED, that Madison Public Library is authorized to create the necessary 2020 Operating Budget amendment to add the appropriation of grant funds.
