PREAMBLE
The City of Madison is proposing to reconstruct or resurface approximately 1.5 miles of existing paved, multi-use (bicycle and pedestrian) paths in Warner Park, which will include the replacement of two wooden pedestrian bridges with pre-fabricated steel multi-use bridges on concrete abutments.
This is a joint project of Engineering Division and Parks Division. The project includes construction of sidewalk to improve the pedestrian connection between the Community Recreation Center and the Park Shelter and also includes re-grading and restoration of a former skating rink to better serve current park uses.
All paths included in the project are in poor condition. The main north-south path in the park is considered to be part of the City’s bicycle transportation network and will be reconstructed and widened from 8 feet to 10 feet to meet current bike path design standards and the new bridges will meet bike path and ADA standards. This work will use Engineering funds.
Secondary paths will be pulverized and resurfaced in place at their existing width. This work, as well as the sidewalk and the re-grading of the rink will use Parks funds.
This project was presented to Board of Park Commissioners and approved on 4/10/13.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the plans and specifications for Warner Park Parks and Bridge Replacement are hereby approved; and
