Fiscal Note

The annualized cost of the proposed reclassification is $3,780 (including benefits). The impact on the 2020 budget is approximately $1,160. As of the 2^nd quarter, the Fire Department was projected to be over budget $485,000 (net of the sick leave payout which is centrally budgeted). The deficit is primarily due to Covid related lost revenue. The Fire Department will likely need a 2020 operating budget amendment to cover the projected deficit, notwithstanding the proposed recreation of position #2155.
