PREAMBLE

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Engineering Division has established Project No. 53B0963 - Starkweather Creek Corridor from Olbrich Garden to Aberg Avenue; and

WHEREAS, the proposed Starkweather Creek Corridor Project from Olbrich Garden to Aberg Avenue is a planned improvement project which will include construction of a bike path and improvements to the Starkweather Creek , and

WHEREAS, the proposed project will also provide a much needed safe pedestrian and bicycle transportation link to employment, educational and recreational needs for area neighborhoods across the existing access controlled STH 30 / Aberg Avenue corridor; and

WHEREAS, the proposed improvement project requires land interest acquisitions from the subject properties at 3052 and 3054 East Washington Avenue to facilitate said improvements, and

WHEREAS, the subject property at 3052 East Washington Avenue is a vacant commercial property previously licensed for restaurant with bar and liquor license and the property on the opposite side of the Starkweather Creek at 3054 East Washington Avenue provides the parking for that vacant business, and

WHEREAS, the subject properties are currently listed for sale by the existing owner, and is likely to be in the best interest of both the existing owner and the City of Madison, that the City purcha...
