The 2006 Operating Budget includes $125,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for Emerging Neighborhoods. $94,000 was previously allocated in the operating budget process. This resolution allocates the remaining $31,000.

SUBSTITUTE - Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into Purchase of Service agreements with organizations approved for funding under the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2006 adopted operating budget provides $125,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods fund; and

WHEREAS, the 2006 adopted operating budget appropriated $40,000 of the Emerging Neighborhoods funds to the Wisconsin Youth Center to underwrite the space and coordination costs associated with community agencies using its facility near Elver Park for youth, family and adult programming; and

WHEREAS, the 2006 adopted operating budget appropriated $40,000 of the Emerging Neighborhoods funds to create a Transit for Jobs program which will link specific transit assistance to low-income, transit dependent individuals; and

WHEREAS, the 2006 adopted operating budget appropriated $14,000 of the Emerging Neighborhoods funds to the Allied Drive - Dunn's Marsh Wellness Center to provide holistic health resources to residents of the neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, the remaining $31,000 in the 2006 adopted operating budget in the Emerging Neighborhoods funds shall be allocated as recommended by a workgroup comprised of representatives from the Mayor's Office, the Office of Community Services and CDBG.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the workgroup recommends allocating the remaining $31,000 as follows:

Madison Apprenticeship Program (MAP)
Up to $21,000 to the Madison Apprenticeship program to continue their successful program that helps participants identify the need for change in their current lifestyle and obtain the tools to re-enter the workforce.
