Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute an Amendment to the contract between the City of Madison and Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc., for additional design engineering services for the Lien Road Design Contract. (17th AD)

PREAMBLE
The City is reconstructing the Lien Road, Zeier Road and N Thompson Drive Intersection and constructing a modern roundabout at the intersection. The project also includes the reconstruction of Lien Road from Zeier Road to I 39/90/94. The City has entered into a design engineering contract with Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. The proposed project is planned to be completed in the year 2010.
The City Engineer recommends that additional design services be undertaken by Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. The additional services are:
1. Additional administration, coordination meetings, and project management due to a time extension of 24 months for the design of the project.
2. Additional title search and title updates for relocation order.
3. Additional work to incorporate the design of a detention/infiltration pond into the project plans.
4. Additional survey work to field locate and stake new right of way boundaries to facilitate utility relocations to accommodate the project.
5. Additional work to prepare and incorporate plans for guide signs into the project plans.
6. Additional work to prepare and incorporate plans for permanent pavement markings extending beyond the original project limits.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an Amendment to the contract between the City of Madison and Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. for additional design engineering services for the Lien Road Design Contract.
