WHEREAS, the City of Madison Fire Department (MFD) applied for FEMA’s Fiscal Year 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant in early 2025 and was subsequently awarded the grant on September 20, 2025;
WHEREAS, the scope of the awarded project is the purchase of approximately 17 complete sets of turnout gear that will replace some of MFD’s inventory of turnout gear at the end of their useful life;
WHEREAS, the performance and budget period for the project is September 27, 2025 to September 26, 2027;
WHEREAS, the total awarded amount is $66,840.91, which requires a 10% match of non-federal funds, resulting in a total project budget of $73,525.00;
WHEREAS, MFD will use current budget appropriation for turnout gear purchasing in the amount of $6,684.09 to meet the 10% match;
WHEREAS, FEMA requires establishment of acceptance of the award through the FEMA Grants Outcome (GO) system within 30 days of the award date;
WHEREAS, the grant acceptance form includes legal terms, obligations, and commitments from the City of Madison and requires a signature from an authorized representative from the City to sign such grant agreements;
