Supporting the grant application by the University of Wisconsin Foundation to the Dane County Partners for Recreation and Conservation Program grant for land management improvements on Grady Tract of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum property.
Body
WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin Foundation is seeking grant funding to assist in the land management efforts on Grady Tract of the Arboretum property; and
WHEREAS, the City supports the land management methods to be used in this project, which will include invasive brush removal and habitat restoration; and
WHEREAS, the property is located adjacent to Knollwood Conservation Park and will be of benefit to the Conservation Park as well as overall conservation goals in the City; and
WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin Foundation has applied for financial assistance in funding this project from the Dane County Park Commission and County Board; and
 
WHEREAS, Wisconsin State Statutes Sec. 59.56(9) requires the City of Madison to consent to recreational based projects performed on non-County owned parcels of land within the City that include funding from the Dane County Partners for Recreation and Conservation Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Madison supports the grant funded project pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes 59.56(9) and consents to the expenditure of funds for recreational purposes by Dane County on this project.
