Any potential impact in 2014 is relatively small and there is no need for an additional appropriation as the Fire Department can accommodate the change within its 2014 appropriations. The longer-term, future annualized additional expense (at Step 5) is $9,919 for wage expense, plus $1,984 in fringe benefits, or a total additional expense of $11,903, which will need to be included in future Fire Department operating budgets, subject to Common Council approval.
