Amending Section 33.01(4)(d) of the Madison General Ordinances to clarify that subcommittees may establish their own subcommittees.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: Some larger subcommittees may desire to create their own subcommittee made up of members of the subcommittee. Although the City Attorney reads Sec. 33.01(4)(d), MGO, as allowing this, this ordinance amendment makes that clear.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Subdivision (d) of Subsection (4) entitled “Creation and Dissolution” of Section 33.01 entitled “Boards, Commissions, and Committees” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(d) Any board, committee, or commission or subcommittee may create and dissolve subcommittees and may appoint any of its members to serve on such subcommittees. No board, committee, or commission or subcommittee may appoint to any of its subcommittees any person who is not a member of the committee, or commission or subcommittee unless the person has been nominated by the committee, or commission or subcommittee and approved by the Common Council. If the board, committee or commission includes subcommittees created or authorized by the Common Council, the members of such subcommittees may serve as members of other subcommittees created by the parent body or created by the subcommittee.”
