Approving Facade Improvement Grants to: 128 State Street (Tiger Lily), 113 East Mifflin Street (Bartell Theatre) and 2600 West Beltline Highway (Johannsen's Greenhouses).
Body
On February 3, 2004, the Common Council adopted Resolution ID # 61179, approving the Facade Improvement Grant Program to support and encourage small local businesses to reinvest in the downtown and smaller, neighborhood shopping and business areas and designating the Community Development Authority as the agent of the City for the operation and administration of the Program. The grants are matching grants and will be provided in an amount up to 50% of the total project costs up to a maximum of $10,000 for a single facade, $20,000 for a building with two facades, and $25,000 for a "flatiron" building. The objective of the Program is to restore, or substantially beautify, or enhance the entire facade or elevation of a commercial building. These facade proposals have been reviewed by the Facade Improvement Grant Staff Team and meet the requirements of the Facade Improvement Grant Program. The Urban design Commission has reviewed these facade proposals and recommends design approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council does hereby approve the following facade improvement grants:
Tiger Lily, 128 State Street Facade grant not to exceed $6,000
Abdallah Lababidi Estimated total project cost $12,000
Work covers the removal of the existing windows and replacement with new metal frame fixed glass windows sized to fill in original openings above stone, and installing 10" tile and metal trim to match State Street facade.
Bartell Theatre, 113 East Mifflin Street Facade grant not to exceed $10,000
Gerald A. Bartell Comm. Theatre Foundation Estimated total facade project cost $34,065
