Fiscal Note
License revenues of an estimated $20,000 have been included in the 2009 adopted City operating budget as part of the General Fund/Miscellaneous Licenses revenues administered by the City Clerk.

Relating to 2009-2011 Taxicab “Paratransit” Licensing.
Body
WHEREAS, the following firms have applied for renewals of their taxicab “paratransit” licenses, effective July 1, 2009:
Affiliated Carriage Systems, Inc., dba Madison Taxi, requesting 47 meter taxicab permits and 3 flat rate permits
Badger Cab Company, Inc., requesting 43 zone taxicab permits
Union Cab of Madison Cooperative, Inc., requesting 63 taxicab permits
First Transit, Inc., requesting 33 flat rate permits
Transit Solutions, Inc., requesting 28 flat rate permits and one airport shuttle permit;
Badger Bus Lines, Inc., requesting 32 flat rate permits
WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineer has provided the Transit and Parking Commission with an investigative
report on the applications and a recommendation to grant the licenses; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council recommends that the following actions be taken with respect to the above applications for licenses:
1. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Affiliated Carriage System, Inc., dba Madison Taxi (1403 Gilson Street) for 50 vehicles.
2. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Badger Cab Company, Inc. (700 Cottage
Grove Road) for 43 zone taxicab permits.
3. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Union Cab of Madison Cooperative, Inc.
(2458 Pennsylvania Avenue) for 63 permits.
4. Approval of the application for license to operate paratransit service by First Transit Services, Inc. (formerly Laidlaw) (4605 Pflaum Road) for 33 permits.
5. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Transit Solutions, Inc. (416 S. Main Street, Deforest, WI 53532) for 29 permits.
