Report to Common Council on the City’s costs associated with self-performed Public Works Construction extending 240-FT of new water main on Valley View Rd and Sundance Dr

Per MGO 33.07(6)(a)(3); pursuant to the authority provided by Wis. Stat. § 62.15(1), public construction of the public water sup)y system may be done directly by the City without submitting for bids where the Water Utility General Manager has determined that the Utility has the resources, expertise and capacity to perform the work internally.
Additionally, per with MGO 33.07(b); whenever any work is done by the City under sub. (a), an accurate account of the cost of the public work, including the necessary overhead expenses, shall be prepared for the Board of Public Works. Once the work is completed, the Board of Public Works shall make a complete report of the work to the Council, stating in detail the items of cost and the total cost of doing the work. The City Clerk shall publish the report as a part of the proceedings of the Council.
In accordance with MGO 33.07(6)(a)(3), Madison Water Utility self-performed the installation of 240-FT of new water main on Valley View Rd and Sundance Dr to provide system redundancy and service reliability to customers in this area in coordination with ongoing construction activities along the Pleasant View Rd and Mid Town Rd corridors.
In accordance with MGO 33.07(b), Madison Water Utility costs incurred with this water main extension project totaled $47,424.15, at $197.60 per foot of water main installed.
