Report of the mayor submitting citizen committee appointments (introduced 5-1-2007; action 5-15-2007).
Body
I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen appointments. "Statement of Interests" forms are on file in the City Clerk's Office for those appointees required to file.
BID BOARD
*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.
Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."
*JEANETTE E. RIECHERS, 142 Kenzington Dr., 53704-5951 (Maple Bluff) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of State Street Area Business Owner succeeding Tom Beach. Ms. Riechers is the owner of Heartland Birkenstock, 414 State Street.
TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2010.
SAMUEL J. PARKER, 1125 E. Gorham St., 53703 (2nd A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of King Street Business Association Representative succeeding Susan Krug. Mr. Parker is the owner of Context, 113 King St.

COMMUNITY GARDENS COMMITTEE
MAICHONG LOR, 3129 Webb Ave., 53714 (15th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Citizen succeeding Lori Nitzel. Ms. Lor is a student at East High School and is active in several organizations, and she has volunteered for the New Garden Fund for the past two years. Her family has a long history of community gardening.
