DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance amends various sections of the Madison General Ordinances to reflect that the name of the Department of Information Services is to be changed to the Department of Information Technology.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

1. Section 3.15 entitled "Department of Information Services" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:

"3.15 DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SERVICES TECHNOLOGY.
(1) Establishment . There is created a Department of Information Services Technology which shall be managed and directed by the Information Services Technology Director.
(2) Information Services Technology Director . Effective March 1, 1989, the position of Information Services Technology Director as it becomes vacant shall be filled according to Sec. 3.38(6)(f) of these ordinances. The incumbent of the position as of the above date may enter into an employment contract as described in such section at his or her option. The Information Services Technology Director shall see to the proper operation of the department and shall be responsible for providing assistance to all City agencies in the form of centralized and distributed systems. This shall include the development and maintenance of the necessary equipment and programs to operate the systems. The Information Services Technology Director also be responsible for the operation of the Records Center and for office automation."
