Fiscal Note
The 2011 adopted capital budget of the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development authorizes the expenditure of $25,000 for development of public art elements for the City's north side (Project No. 7, "TID 40 - Northside," Acc't NO. 824001). No additional appropriation is required for the initial design phase of the project, nor in conjunction with the review/selection committee.

Creating the Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Public Art Selection Committee.
Body
WHEREAS, the Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Plan prioritized incorporating artist designed symbols reflecting the values and resources of the neighborhoods on fencing, bus shelters, signage, gateway features and in other publicly visible locations on the north side; and
WHEREAS, $25,000 in funds was authorized in the 2011 budget to begin to design, fabricate and install such projects; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Program Administrator in the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development will issue a Request for Qualifications to seek qualified artists to create an image library for the Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the artists will prepare design concepts to be submitted to a selection committee; and
WHEREAS, a selection committee will be necessary to review submitted qualifications, proposals, to guide the artistic direction of this project and future projects for the north side; and
WHEREAS, as the Public Art Framework and Field Guide requires public input and information sharing as part of all major public design projects, a broad spectrum of the community will be consulted and invited to open meetings throughout the selection process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Arts Administrator is hereby authorized to administer the public art projects outlined in the Northport-Warner Park-Sherman Neighborhood Plan and the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute related ...
