Fiscal Note
Hearing Examiner services would be provided in 2005 at a rate of $60 per hour with a $200 maximum per hearing; reconsideration hearings will have a maximum rate of $200 per hearing. Funds are available in the Department of Planning and Development budget.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to sign an agreement with Thomas M. LaFleur, his contract for professional services as Alternate Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the Building Inspection Unit of the Department of Planning and Development.
Body
WHEREAS, Section 32.06(4)(e)2., Madison General Ordinances, entitles Rent Abatement Hearing Examiners to conduct hearings on requests for authorization for rent abatement and to determine the exact amount of rent, if any, which may be abated pursuant to the ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the Rent Abatement Oversight Committee voted to recommend entering into an agreement with Thomas M. LaFleur for professional services as Alternate Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the year 2005, the funds for which are available in the budget of the Department of Planning and Development, to provide professional services for Rent Abatement Hearing Examiners for the year 2005 as set forth in the fiscal note above.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk be and hereby are authorized to sign, on behalf of the City, an agreement with the aforementioned attorney providing for services as Alternate Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the Building Inspection Unit of the Department of Planning and Development for the calendar year 2005
ANALYSIS: This resolution enters into an agreement for an Alternate Rental Abatement Hearing Examiner Contract with Thomas M. LaFleur for 2005 at the same hourly rate of $60.00 as Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner, Thomas Boykoff.
