Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the acceptance of $33,875 in Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grants from Dane County Emergency Management for four Specialized HazMat training courses and amends the Fire Department’s 2018 operating budget accordingly. The grant will pay for contracts with the training vendors. Overtime costs for Hazmat team members to attend the training are included in the State Hazmat funding. There is no impact on the levy.

Body

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs through the division of Wisconsin Emergency Management is awarding sub-grants funded by the US Department of Transportation for Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) training and planning,

 

WHEREAS, Dane County Emergency Management has applied and received award notifications for four (4) specialized HazMat Training courses,

 

WHEREAS, the Madison Fire Department will use the grant funds to conduct Hazmat Training courses in the areas of Radiological IQ, Advanced Hazmat IQ, Propane IQ, and Toxicology,

 

WHEREAS, the grant award requires purchasing of specified training courses and acceptance of award will require non-competitively selected purchase of service contracts, each less than $25,000, with the training vendors,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 2018 Operating Budget for the Madison Fire Department be amended upon award to reflect $33,875 in expenses, offset by revenue of up to $33,875.
